In the 8th match of the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Murugan Ashwin donned the hat of 'Super Man' and flew like a jet on the cricket field to complete one of the greatest catches of all time. The jaw-dropping moment occurred during the match between Dindigul Dragons and Siechem Madurai Panthers at NPR College Ground in Dindigul on June 18 (Sunday) when Ashwin sent onlookers into a state of shock with acrobatics.

The incident occurred on the fourth ball of the fourth over during the Dindigul Dragons' innings when S Arun lofted Gurjapneet Singh's delivery over the 30-yard circle on the off-side. Ashwin, who was stationed at point, ran back at full speed before leaping full stretch to complete an astonishing catch. When Ashwin took the catch, his body was parallel to the ground.

Despite Ashwin's miraculous catch, Siechem Madurai Panthers ended up losing the game after Baba Indrajith played a match-winning knock for Dindigul Dragons. Skipper Indrajith, who walked out to bat when his team was reeling at 16/2 in pursuit of a 124-run target, stroked a match-defining half-century to take his side to the promised land.

The right-handed batter remained unbeaten on 78 runs off 48 balls as the Dragons gunned down the target in just 14.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Indrajith whacked seven fours and four sixes during his belligerent knock.

For Siechem Madurai Panthers, left-arm seamer Gurjapneet bagged all three wickets and finished with figures of 3/18 in four overs.

Earlier, Jagatheesan Kousik scored 45 runs off 34 balls as the Panthers were bundled out for just 123 runs in 19.3 overs. From 78/2 to 123 all out, the Panthers' batting line-up capitulated in a bizarre manner.Ā
