The Hundred: Player who rose to limelight with 150 kmph delivery sizzles in 30-ball 83-run knock, smashes 6 sixes

England international Jamie Overton played an explosive knock of 83 not out in just 30 balls during Manchester Originals match against Northern Superchargers in The Hundred contest on August 13 (Sunday). Overton, who rose to the limelight with a 150 kmph delivery in U-19 World Cup in 2012 against Australia, smashed nine fours and six sixes while registering a staggering strike rate of 276.66.

On the back of Overton's stunning display with the bat, Manchester posted a daunting score of 182/6 in 90 balls before winning the game by 40 runs (D/L method) in Leeds.

Apart from Overton, Laurie Evans chipped in with a handy cameo of 41 runs in 18 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes. For the Superchargers, Reece Topley bagged three wickets and leaked 29 runs in 20 balls. Brydon Carse, Callum Parkinson and Adil Rashid chipped in with a wicket each.

For Superchargers, Matthew Short smashed 37 runs off 18 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. Harry Brook got a start and scored 20 runs off 14 balls with the help of two fours and one six before being dismissed by Usama Mir. Saif Zaib scored 21 runs off 16 balls while other batters failed to get a start.

For the Originals, Usama Mir bagged four wickets in 20 balls and conceded just 19 balls. Josh Little bagged two wickets while Josh Tongue, Tom Hartley and Paul Walter chipped in with a wicket.

Jamie Overton's record

Coming back to Overton, the 29-year-old has played one Test match for England. A three-dimensional player, Overton has played 91 First-Class matches and scored 2,231 runs with the help of one ton and 12 half-centuries. He has bagged 232 wickets in red-ball cricket as well. In List A cricket, Overton has scored 399 runs in 42 matches while picking 57 wickets in the process. \
