Laxman feels the victory becomes more praiseworthy as it came despite the players' preparations being hit by inclement weather in the run-up to the tournament.&nbsp; The Men in Blue reclaimed their dominance in the tournament with a record eighth title as they romped Sri Lanka by a huge margin of nine wickets in the summit clash which was curtailed by rain in Dubai on Friday (December 31). For the 47-year-old batting legend, this triumph is an 'ideal confidence booster for the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup, which is slated to kick off from January 14 in West Indies. &nbsp;&nbsp;"Congrats to the India U-19 side on the #AsiaCupU19 triumph! Their preparations were hit by the weather, among other things, but it's heartening to see them improve by the game," Laxman tweeted. "That's as satisfying as the title win itself. The dismissal of their skipper opened the floodgates and Kuwait’s batting lineup fell like a pack of cards.&nbsp;The chasing side did not even cross the 50-run mark and lost all their wickets for the score of 49 which includes the retired out middle-order batter Mohammad. Riding on Angkrish Raghuvanshi's unbeaten 56, the Men in Blue made the light work of lowly 102-run target in just 22 overs to crush the Lankan side.&nbsp;Indian bowlers came up with a top-notch effort to bundle out Sri Lanka to 106/9. Vicky Ostwal was the pick of the Indian bowlers, picking up three wickets, including two in a single over, while Ravi Kumar, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, and Raj Bawa picked a wicket each. Both off-spinner Tambe and left-arm spinner Ostwal got the odd ball to turn sharply.&nbsp;Ostwal got two in one to leave Sri Lanka in dire straits at 57 for seven. Chasing a total of 244, Bangladesh batting lineup crumbled and got bundled out for 140 in 39th over of the run chase. For India, Shaik Rasheed won the ‘Player of the match’ award for his unbeaten 90 to help India post 243/8 after being asked to bat first by Bangladesh.&nbsp;&nbsp;For India, each of the six bowlers contributed to Bangladesh’s collapse. Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Ravi Kumar, Raj Bawa and Vicky Otswal took two wickets each whereas Nishant Sindhu and Kaushal Tambe picked up one wicket each. For Bangladesh, Ariful Islam top-scored with 42 runs off 77 deliveries. Losing too many wickets derailed Bangladesh’s run chase early on and Indian bowlers choked the boundaries in the middle overs to bundle them out with 11.3 overs to spare.&nbsp;Earlier India got off to a slow start. Rasheed kept the scoreboard moving and shared crucial partnerships middle over batters to get India past the 200-run mark. India lost their eighth wicket for 193 in the 45th over but it was tailender Otswal who bolstered India’s scored with a 18-ball 28 cameo. Rasheed remained unbeaten for 90 off 108 deliveries but could not reach the three figures. He got most of his runs running between the wickets. His knock included just three fours and one six.&nbsp;Pakistan implode to knock themselves outWith India and Pakistan playing in their respective semi-final matches, it was expected that the two teams will clash in the final. Till the first innings of both the matches, it seemed like India vs Pakistan final was on the cards but things changed very quickly in the latter’s run chase.&nbsp;&nbsp;Chasing a below par target of 148, Pakistan’s top order collapsed as they were reduced to 10/3 in the sixth over. Muhammad Shehzad and skipper Qasim Akram tried to steady the ship as the required run rate was still under control. But Akram fell in the 19th over followed by Shehzad in the 26th over.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pakistan were reduced to 70/6 in the 31st over but the hope was alive with Ahmad Khan on one end. Sri Lankan skipper Dunith Wellalage returned to the attack and got Ahmad out for 36. In the death overs, the run chase got out of grasp and 148-run target seemed like a daunting total. Pakistan got bundled out for 125 with three balls to go in the innings. Raj Bawa rose to the occasion as India launched a fight back to overcome Afghanistan fear by four wickets as they entered the semi-final of the Under-19 Asia Cup tournament here on Monday (December 27).Bawa played a match-winning knock of 43 not out in the middle which was coupled with Kaushal Tambe’s sedate 35 as they together strung together a crucial partnership of 65-run while chasing a competitive target of 260 and literally snatched the match from Afghanistan’s grip.&nbsp;India were off to a great start riding on Harnoor Singh’s handsome 65 off 74 balls which was adorned with eight boundaries. He found the able partner in Angkrish Raghuvanshi (35 off 47). After a solid opening stand of 104, Noor Ahmad dislodged Angkrish. Before India could recover from the first wicket, Noor struck back and dismissed Harnoor. Afghanistan started to spread their tentacles in the game as they grabbed the second and third wicket in quick succession that left the scoreboard at 116/3. Captain Yash Dhull once again failed to click for the team as he was sent to the pavilion at 26 off 35.&nbsp;The match looked slipping away from India but Bawa came to Men in Blue’s rescue and bolstered the team when it needed the most. In his 55-ball innings he smashed two boundaries.India lost their sixth wicket at the score of 197. But Tambe played the second fiddle in his 29-ball knock which was loaded with four fours.&nbsp;Afghanistan bowlers tried everything from their armoury but failed to thwart India’s solid fightback to clinch the match with four wickets to spare.Noor remained the pick of the bowlers for Afghanistan as he snared 4/43.&nbsp;Earlier, batting first Afghanistan rode on Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai’s impressive knock of 86 off 68 balls. Bawa-Tambe's 7th-wicket partnership helps India beat Afghanistan to reach U-19 Asia Cup semi-final

India started their Under-19 Asia Cup on a winning note with a massive 154-win over United Arab Emirates at ICC Academy Ground, Dubai. Indian opener Harnoor Singh turned out to be the star of the show as he scored 120 after UAE skipper Alishan Sharafu won the toss and elected to bowl first. Chasing a 283-run target, UAE batting crumbled and were bundled out in the 35th over.&nbsp; Batting first, India got off to a disappointing start as opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi (2) was dismissed in the third over. However, his partner at the other end Harnoor stitched partnerships with Shaik Rasheed and skipper Yash Dhull to lay a foundation for fighting total.&nbsp; The Jalandhar-born batter was well supported by Rasheed (35 off 60) and skipper Dhull (63 off 68). Harnoor and Rasheed put together a second-wicket stand of 90 runs while Harnoor and Dhull combined for a third-wicket stand of 120 runs. After Harnoor's departure in the 44th over, Rajvardhan Hangargekar came up with a cameo of 48 off 23 deliveries. Hangargekar smashed six fours and two sixes to take India to a commendable total of 282/5 in 50 overs. UAE skipper used as many as nine bowlers in the match but only two turned out to be successful in wickets. UAE’s response though was far from impressive as they crumbled to a dominating Indian bowling attack. Hangargekar was again in action as he picked three wickets for 24 runs to break the back of the UAE batting lineup. Despite a decent start, UAE couldn’t consolidate and went from 88/2 to 128 all out, losing eight wickets for just 40 runs. Garv Sangwan and Kaushal Tambe also bagged a couple of wickets to start the campaign on a high. In the other encounter, Pakistan defeat Afghanistan by four wickets. Pakistan struggled to chase a mere score of 53 as they lost six wickets. The low-scoring encounter saw only one Afghanistan batter score in double figures. The third encounter played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium saw Sri Lanka earn the spoils as they defeated minnows Kuwait by a staggering 274 runs. The teams will next be in action in two days' time as traditional rivals India and Pakistan will go head-to-head in a crunch battle in Dubai on December 25.

Pakistan edged past India by two wickets in a cracker of a contest in the Under-19 Asia Cup on Saturday (December 25). Ahmad Khan, with the last ball boundary, won it for Pakistan in a contest which went down to wire. Shehzad remained the top scorer for Pakistan as he scored 81 in the team's victory.&nbsp;India rode on Aaradhya Yadav’s modest 50-run knock which was well complimented by Harnoor Singh as they posted a target of 238 for the arch-rival Pakistan in the high-octane contest in the Under-19 Asia Cup on Saturday (December 25).&nbsp;Bowling first, Pakistan got the early breakthrough for the score of 1 in the form of opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi who was sent to pavilion for a duck. Before the other opener Harnoor Singh tried to steady the boat, India were jolted again as they &nbsp;lost two of their wickets in quick succession which left the scoreboard at 14/3.&nbsp;However, Harnoor showed the grit and kept the scoreboard moving with an instrumental &nbsp;knock of 46. But he didn’t get the support in the middle which also saw the captain Yash Dhull getting out for golden duck. Aaradhya came to India rescue with his splendid 83-ball knock where he struck three boundaries.&nbsp;Down the order Kaushal Tambe (32) and Rajvardhan Hangargekar (33) also contributed well to help India reach a respectable total of 237.&nbsp;Zeeshan Zameer was the pick of the bowler for Pakistan as he returned with a sensational spell of 5 for 60. Awais Ali also plucked two wickets for the side.&nbsp;Batting second, Muhammad Shehzad took the mantle for Pakistan and start bashing Indian bowlers left, right, centre as he struck an impressive 81 which was loaded with five sixed and four boundaries. Later, he got run out Hangerkar which left the match in a fix again. Captain Qasim Akram tried to bolster &nbsp;the Pakistan but was found lbw off Sindhu ball. From there the match was anybody’s game with Indian bolwers keeping a check on the opponent batters but Pakistan took the game to the wire.&nbsp;At the end, Pakistan needed 8 runs off the last over. It is confirmed that two Officials have tested positive for COVID-19. The Officials are currently safe and being treated in accordance with tournament protocols.&nbsp;Before the proceedings were halted, 32.4 overs were bowled in the match. After having won the toss,&nbsp; Sri Lanka Under-19, elected to field first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Both Bangladesh’s openers Mahfijul Islam (4) and Iftakher Hossain (3) departed early on.&nbsp;Sri Lanka’s Treveen Mathew starred with the ball and did not let the batters settle as he showed them the way back to the pavilion. Prantik Nawrose Nabil (45) further held the fort of the side whereas, on the other hand, Aich Mollah added valuable 24 runs to the team’s account.&nbsp;Ariful Islam and keeper batter Md Fahim were unbeaten on 19 and 27 when the match was abandoned. Pakistan batters made an easy run chase tough for themselves as they barely managed to get over the line by losing six wickets in the second innings.&nbsp;&nbsp;Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a horrendous start losing five wickets for 12 runs including three ducks. Ahmad Khan wreaked havoc with the new ball taking three wickets in the powerplay overs to break Afghanistan batting lineup’s back. No other batter in the Afghanistan side managed to score in double digits. In the 24th over, Afghanistan were bundled out for 52. Apart from Ahmad, Zeeshan Zameer and Awais Ali picked up two wickets each.&nbsp;&nbsp;Chasing a total of 53, Pakistan were expected to get over the line without breaking a sweat but it turned out quite the opposite. They got off to a cautious start but lost two wickets quickly. New-ball bowler Bilal Sami got opener Abdul Wahid out followed by a two-ball duck for Muhammad Shehzad. Opener Maaz Sadaqat tried playing out the new ball and stitched the highest partnership (24 runs) in the match.&nbsp;As Pakistan looked like cruising towards the target, they suffered a batting collapse losing four wickets in a span of nine runs. Left-arm chinaman Noor Ahmad went for runs but picked up three wickets whereas Izharulhaq Naveed picked up one. But opener Sadaqat held on to one end and scored the winning runs. He remained unbeaten for 14 off 46 deliveries and ensured that the tailenders are not exposed to Afghan bowling lineup. The 53-run target was chased down in 16.4 overs.&nbsp;&nbsp;In the other two matches of the day, India beat UAE by 154 runs and Sri Lanka beat minnows Kuwait by 274 runs.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Under-19 team wasted a great opportunity to secure their first win of the Under-19 Asia Cup on Saturday, December 25, after they restricted the Afghanistan Under-19 team within a mere total of 194/9 in 50 overs.&nbsp;In reply, UAE could only manage to score 54 and six of their batsmen could not even score a single run. Only two of their batsmen - Aayan Afzal Khan (14 not out) and Nilansh Keswani (15) could manage to reach the double digits.&nbsp;Noor scores a tonFor Afghanistan, batsman Allah Noor scored 100 runs (off 123 deliveries) out of his team’s total 194 runs. His innings was comprised of 11 boundaries and 1 six.&nbsp;Apart from Noor, only one more player for Afghanistan – Izharulhaq Naveed (24 off 53) – &nbsp;managed to reach the double digits.&nbsp;For UAE, Nilansh Keswani was the best bowler as he picked up two wickets.&nbsp;UAE opener Aryansh Sharma was the first batsman to depart for a naught. The 17-year-old wicketkeeper could face just one ball in the match. Next UAE batsman to be dismissed was Dhruv Parashar who also failed to score a run.&nbsp;&nbsp;Skipper Alishan Sharafu managed to open his account but his inning did not go on for too long as he was sent back to the pavilion scoring just 3 runs. Punya Mehra and Soorya Sathish also could not manage to score a run.&nbsp;For Afghanistan, bowlers Bilal Sami and Khalel Ahmad picked up three wickets each.&nbsp;&nbsp;The massive victory turned out to be the first win for the Afghanistan team and now they have two points from two matches.
