Birmingham Bears pulled off a stunning chase and earned a convincing win over Derbyshire in the T20 Blast match on Wednesday (June 7). The undeterred Bears' batters belted Derbyshire's bowlers all around the park to chase down the daunting 203-run total with three balls to spare. Pakistan's star batter Haider Ali and Bears' opener played an outstanding knock to steer his team to the finishing line.

However, it wasn't Haider Ali's batting which grabbed eyeballs but his bizarre dismissal which left everyone in splits. Haider, who has played 33 T20I for Pakistan and scored 499 runs, suffered a brainfade moment and was hilariously stumped by Derbyshire's wicketkeeper Alex Davies. After giving Birmingham a rocksolid start, Haider fell prey to Danny Briggs' overpitched delivery in the 11th over. Haider stepped out to slog the ball out of the park but failed to middle the ball and rest was done by Davies. However, Davies failed to collect to ball in the first place. But Haider's casual approach to return back to the crease in time gave Davies another chance to cause the stumping. Davies made no mistake this time and quickly removed the bails to complete the stumping which left Haider in a total shock.

Talking about the match, Derbyshire Falcons rode on an exceptional knock from Leus Du Plooy to clinch an emphatic six-wicket victory over Birmingham Bears. Bears did well to put a massive total of 203/7 after Sam Hain's brilliant 79 off 36 which was studded with nine fours and three sixes. But Du Plooy had some other plans and struck a blistering 66 off 25 which was decorated with four boundaries and five sixes to steer his side to 207/4 and won the match with three balls to spare. Luis Reece (57 off 38 balls) and Haider (48 off 34) also chipped in with instrumental knocks and weaved together a 96-run partnership in ten overs to set the tone for Bears.
