Making his debut in the T20 Blast for Sussex did not faze Bradley Currie, who went on to win the Player of the Match award for his performance against Hampshire in Hove on Friday. He took three wickets but that was surely not the highlight of the match for the young Scotsman.

He pulled out a catch that would make the best fielders in the world blush.

Sussex had given Hampshire a target of 183 to chase down, and the screws were on Hampshire, who needed 23 from 11 balls with Chris Wood and former Punjab Kings all-rounder Benny Howell at the crease. Howell looked especially dangerous, having hit 25 from 14 deliveries, but his wicket, courtesy of Currie is one for cricket fans to savour all around the world.

Former Mumbai Indians pacer Tymal Mills was bowling in the 19th over when a peach of a delivery to Howell was hit in a flat and fast sweep that looked like crossing the boundary for a six, leaving Hampshire needing just 17 from the final 10 balls. However, Currie had other ideas as he run 10 yards to his left and made a dive to catch the ball with one hand.

In celebration, Currie stood up nonchalantly to claim his moment of glory.

"Oh he's got it," commentator Mark Butcher called, predicting the ball to clear the boundary. "He's … oh my goodness me. Did you ever … see anything like that?"

It was so good that England's Test skipper Ben Stokes took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the catch with just one word. "Filth," England captain Ben Stokes tweeted after watching the catch.

This was not the only piece of trickery up the 24-year-old's sleeve. He took two wickets in two balls in his first over to dismiss Hampshire's dangerous skipper James Vince. He bagged a third wicket to finish with figures of 3-27. His bowling helped Sussex successfully defend 183 as they won the match by six runs.
