Chris Lynn may have parted ways with Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Brisbane Heat but he is not done hitting humongous sixes yet. In Northamptonshire’s second clash in the ongoing T20 Blast, Lynn launched the ball out of the County Ground and into someone's backyard nearby.
Lynn was at his destructive best against Durham on May 27. The Aussie batter hit as many as eight sixes in his 83-run knock off 46 deliveries. Durham bowler Brydon Carse was at the receiving end of Lynn’s hard-hitting as one of the two sixes went a huge distance.
A video has been making rounds on social media which shows the ball Lynn hit land in the backyard. Lynn reacted to the video on his Twitter account with a smiley as well.
The 32-year-old shared a 149-run opening partnership with Ben Curran. Brother of English players Tom and Sam, Ben scored 71 runs from 43 deliveries including 12 fours and one six.
Lynn missed his century as he got out in the 17th over to Paul Coughlin. After a demolishing opening partnership, Northamptonshire posted 223/4 after skipper Joshua Cobb won the toss and opted to bat first.
After posting a daunting total, Durham could manage to post 192/9 as their skipper Ashton Turner got retired out after an electrifying cameo. Northamptonshire won the game by a comfortable margin of 31 runs.
Lynn had been away from the field since BBL 2021-22. In his first T20 Blast game of the season, he could score 16 runs against Birmingham as Northamptonshire got bundled out for 81 in 14.2 overs, chasing a target of 207/3 after Paul Stirling's menacing 119-run knock.
The win helped Northamptonshire improve their net run rate (NRR) after a massive loss to Birmingham. They are in the sixth spot in the North Group on the points table.
