England bowlers dominated West Indies on Day 3 of the first Test at Lord's, securing a crushing victory. Gus Atkinson, making his Test debut, clinched a remarkable 10-wicket haul, becoming the third English bowler to achieve this feat at the iconic ground. Veteran James Anderson, in his final Test match, bowed out in style, claiming his 704th Test wicket. West Indies struggled against the relentless English attack, with Joshua da Silva falling early to Anderson's milestone wicket. Atkinson continued his dream debut by dismissing Alzarri and Shamar Joseph. The lower order offered little resistance as England secured a resounding win.
As Day 2 concluded with the West Indies batting, it was evident that the hosts had controlled the game. England, resuming at 189/3, maintained their impressive form. Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Jamie Smith each scored fifties, propelling England to a substantial first innings total. With West Indies struggling in their second innings, they were left reeling at 79/6.
England began the day on a high note, with Harry Brook swiftly reaching his fifty before being dismissed. Joe Root, adopting a more cautious approach, anchored the innings with a solid 68 off 114 balls, ensuring the scoreboard kept moving.
Jamie Smith also showcased his skill with the bat, scoring 70 runs from 199 deliveries, helping England post a formidable 371 runs and gain a 250-run lead. For the West Indies, Jayden Seales stood out with a four-wicket haul, while Jason Holder and Gudakesh Motie each took two wickets.
West Indies’ Struggles Continue In their second innings, the West Indies faced continuous trouble. Trailing by 250 runs, they lost wickets rapidly, unable to find stability as the English bowlers dominated once again, wreaking havoc on Day 2.
