Story Highlights:

Ryan ten Doeschate ended speculations around Jasprit Bumrah's participation in West Indies Tests

Bumrah has so far featured in 3 matches for India in Asia Cup 2025

India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate feels that Jasprit Bumrah will be ready to feature in the upcoming two-match West Indies Test series by the time Asia Cup comes to an end. Doeschate stated that Bumrah will be bowling more than 24 overs in the ongoing tournament which will be enough ffor him to get in the groove for red-ball cricket.

"Jasprit Bumrah will be bowling 24-plus overs in this tournament (Asia Cup) and that's a good amount of overs to be Test match ready as we play a Test next Thursday," ten Doeschate said in the pre-match press-conference.

The Test series between India and West Indies is set to begin from October 2 with the first match set to be played at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The second and final Test of the series will commence from October 10 and will be played at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi.

Ten Doeschate on Rauf's gestures

On the other hand, ten Doeschate also broke silence on Haris Rauf's controversial gestures during the match against India. Notably, the Pakistan speedster was seen making a 6-0 gesture towards the Indian fans while fielding at the boundary rope, referring to Pakistan's claims that that it downed six of India's fighter jets during Operation Sindoor. Ahead of the Men in Blue's clash against Bangladesh, ten Doeschate stated that whatever Rauf did on the field was none of their concern and expressed pride in Suryakumar Yadav & Co's fabulous performance during the game.

The gestures he (Haris Rauf) made weren’t obviously nice. But our boys let the bat do the talking. They were on fire with the bat. It’s been a week of heightened political tensions but what Rauf does is not our concern. We’re very proud of our boys and the way they carried themselves on the field," ten Doeschate stated.

India up against Bangladesh next

Meanwhile, India's next game in Asia Cup will be against Bangladesh and will be held on September 24. This will not be their final match of the Super 4 stage as they will also be clashing against Sri Lanka on September 26. A victory in their upcoming match will leave the Men in Blue in prime position for making it to the final.
