India are just 58 runs shy of a series-clinching victory after nishing Day 4 at 63/1 in chase of 121 runs against West Indies in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. KL Rahul (25*) and Sai Sudharsan (30*) were unbeaten at stumps, having added 54 runs for the second wicket after the early departure of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was dismissed for 8.
Earlier, the West Indies posted a fighting 390 in their second innings, showing their best batting performance of the tour. John Campbell scored 115 off 199 balls, and Shai Hope added 103 off 214 balls. The pair shared a 177-run partnership for the third wicket, leading a strong West Indies response.
West Indies off to a good start on Day 4
The visitors began their innings in a solid position, were 212/2 at one stage but lost seven wickets for just 99 runs, slipping to 311/9. A late resistance came through a gritty 79-run stand for the final wicket between Justin Greaves (50* not out) and Jayden Seales (32), frustrating the Indian bowlers and stretching the match into the fifth day.
Bumrah, Kuldeep shine on Day 4
Jasprit Bumrah (3/44) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/104) were the pick of the bowlers for India. Mohammed Siraj took 2/43, while Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar chipped in with a wicket each. The Indian bowlers toiled hard on a flat and unresponsive pitch, delivering 118.5 overs in the second innings. Notably, Mohammed Siraj also became the highest wicket-taker in Tests in 2025, surpassing Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani.
Campbell's maiden century
Campbell brought up his maiden Test century with a slog-sweep six off Ravindra Jadeja. However, his dismissal came after an attempted reverse sweep, with DRS confirming him out leg-before. Hope and Roston Chase added 51 runs for the fourth wicket before the second new ball turned the momentum in India’s favour. Bumrah and Siraj used short balls effectively to unsettle Hope and the lower order.
Despite the West Indies’ spirited batting, the Indian bowlers remained patient. The final breakthrough came when Bumrah dismissed Seales, ending the West Indies innings at 390 and leaving India with a modest target of 121.
