India veteran wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul smashed his 11th Test century during Day 2 of the first Test match against West Indies at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 33-year-old star, who remained unbeaten overnight on 53 alongside skipper Shubman Gill, has completed his hundred run-mark on 190 balls, smashing 12 fours. With this century, the Karnataka batter ended his nine-year-long wait to score his second Test century in India.

Rahul scored his first Test century in India against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in December 2016. In that match, he scored 199 runs in 311 balls in India’s first innings and hammered 16 fours and 3 sixes during his stay at the crease.

KL Rahul is in the form of his life as the wicketkeeper batter has smashed three centuries so far in 2025. His last Test century came against England during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Lord's Stadium in London.

India vs West Indies 1st Test

Coming back to the match, KL Rahul's fine century helped India to reach 218 for three at lunch on the second day of the opening Test against West Indies. Rahul was batting on 100 with Dhruv Jurel (14) giving him company as India led the visitors by 56 runs at the break. India started their day at 121-2 and lost the wicket of skipper Shubman Gill (50) during the opening session. Earlier, the hosts bundled out West Indies on just 162 on Day 1 of the red-ball game.
