Yashasvi Jaiswal has finally opened up on his heartbreaking run-out dismissal following a horrible mix-up with Shubman Gill which denied him the well-deserved double century on Day 2 of the second Test against West Indies.

A colossal moment of miscommunication cost opener Yashasvi Jaiswal his wicket and a probable double-century early on Day 2 of the second Test between India and West Indies in New Delhi. Jaiswal, who had resumed on 173, added just a couple of runs before a run-out saw his marathon innings end. The incident occurred at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday morning when he was caught short at the striker’s end following a mix-up with captain Shubman Gill.

However, Jaiswal didn't fret much over the dismissal and said that run outs are part of the game and it's fine.

"Run outs are part of the game, it's fine. There is always a thought to know about the team's goal and personal goals at the start of the day. I was trying to get in early yesterday. I was thinking of batting for an hour and it'd be easier to score later. Wicket is pretty good still, we are bowling well," Jaiswal said after the close of Day 2.

The unfortunate Run-Out

The dismissal unfolded after Jaiswal pushed a delivery from Jayden Seales toward mid-off and called for a quick single, believing there was a scoring opportunity. However, the judgment was debatable, and Gill, seemingly unsure, turned down his request. Jaiswal had already committed to the run and was well down the pitch when Tagenarine Chanderpaul fielded the ball and fired a throw to the wicketkeeper. The keeper nearly botched the run-out as the ball popped out of his gloves, but he managed to disturb the bails just in time, ending Jaiswal's sparkling knock at 175.

Jaiswal's record-breaking feats

Despite the disappointing end, Jaiswal's innings was historically significant. He now holds the Indian record for the most 150-plus innings before the age of 24, achieving this feat five times and surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who had four such innings by the age of 23. The overall world record is held by Don Bradman, who recorded eight such innings between 1930 and 1932. Additionally, the young left-handed batter drew level with South African legend Graeme Smith for the most centuries as an opener before turning 24. He also matched Virat Kohli’s record of scoring two 150-plus innings on the opening day of a Test match in India.

With four wickets already in the bag and a commanding lead of 378 runs, India were firmly poised to enforce a quick result on the third day.
