Indian batters Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have tested positive for Covid-19 head of limited-overs series against West Indies, a source confirmed to Sports Tak. A mix of support staff and players have contracted the virus.
While only three cases have been confirmed now, the team is currently in quarantine in Ahmedabad just days before the first ODI of the series.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct a fresh round of Covid testing on Thursday (February 3) before deciding on the next course of action.
India are to play three ODIs at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad from February 6 to February 11 followed by the three-T20I series at Eden Gardens, Kolkata to be played between February 16 and February 20.

If the three players do not recover in time for the first ODI, standby players Shahrukh Khan, Rishi Dhawan and R Sai Kishore may get drafted in the squad. Rishi led Himachal Pradesh to Vijay Hazare Trophy title last year whereas Shahrukh and Kishore were clinical in Tamil Nadu's title win in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021.
