Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the three-T20I series against West Indies which is scheduled to start from February 16 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
According to report, a Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official revealed that he has suffered Grade 1 hamstring injury.
The spin all-rounder is expected to report at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bangalore on February 15 and will spend three weeks there to get back in shape.
So far, no replacement has been named by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Chennai-born cricketer recently returned to India's limited-overs squad after recovering from injury. He proved his fitness in domestic matches. He was named in India's ODI squad for South Africa as well. However, he tested positive for Covid-19 before boarding the flight and had to stay back in India.
Sundar made an impactful return to international cricket as he picked up four wickets from three games including a three-wicket haul. With the bat, he contributed with cameos of 24 and 33 in the series against the Caribbean.
In Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, Sundar was picked for Rs 8.75 crore by Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after an intense bidding war with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
