Delhi Capitals won by 25 runs against Gujarat Giants on March 3.

Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Meg Lanning has been among the top batters in the Women's Premier League (WPL) so far. Despite her impressive performance, she believes there's room for improvement in her game.

Lanning has amassed 148 runs from four innings in the tournament, ranking her as the third-highest scorer, having secured two half-centuries.

In the latest match for DC, Lanning's crucial knock of 55 runs off 41 balls played a crucial role in her team's 25-run victory over Gujarat Giants (GG).

'There's still a little bit of improvement needed'

"I'm just enjoying playing cricket...we've got a really good squad and staff that makes it a really cool environment to be in. We back each other and play to our strengths, so it certainly helps and makes my job a lot easier," she said after the win on March 3.

"It's been nice to be able to contribute and help the team win. I feel like there's still a little bit of improvement needed in how I'm playing. I'm not completely satisfied, but as I said I'm just trying to have some fun and play with a smile on my face."

With the victory, DC concluded the Bengaluru leg at the top of the points table, having secured three wins and suffered one loss in four matches. Their upcoming matches in the tournament will be held at their home venue.

Want to play with freedom: Lanning

In response to questions about DC's potent batting lineup, Lanning said, "each batter in that top six has different strengths. All we've spoken about is playing to our strengths.”

"We want to play with freedom, take the game on, especially with the conditions here, you need to set some big totals, and you do that by playing what you are good at. I think that's what we have been doing throughout the tournament so far, and hopefully we can continue to do that," she concluded.

Notably, the next match for DC will be against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on March 5.
