Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in the final at the Brabourne Stadium and clinched the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) title on March 26 (Sunday). Chasing a target of 132 runs, Mumbai rode on a match-winning knock from Nat Sciver-Brunt and emerged victorious under tremendous pressure. Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 60 runs off 55 balls with the help of seven fours as Haramnpreet Kaur's side gunned down the target with three balls to spare.
The first-ever WPL was a gigantic success and some of the most talented cricketers in the world displayed their talent on the biggest stage. After the final concluded, best individual awards were handed out to players who excelled in different categories.

Orange Cap: Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning bagged the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in the inaugural edition of the WPL. The right-handed Australian batter scored 345 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 139.11 and an average of 49.28. The stylish opener also registered two half-centuries in the competition.
Purple Cap: Mumbai Indians' all-rounder Hayley Matthews bagged 16 wickets in 10 matches at a brilliant economy rate of 5.94. Her best bowling figure in a match was 3/5.
Emerging Player: Mumbai Indians' opening batter Yastika Bhatia won the Emerging Player of the Year award. The left-handed batter scored 214 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 112.04 and an average of 21.40,
Catch of the Season: Mumbai Indians' skipper Harmanpreet Kaur bagged the Catch of the Season award. Harmanpreet took a stunning catch at slip when Devika Vaidya edged the ball off Hayley Matthews' bowling.
Most Valuable Player: Hayley Matthews won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament award for her stupendous all-around display. The right-handed batter scored 271 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 126.04 and an average of 30.11. She also bagged 16 wickets in 10 matches at a brilliant economy rate of 5.94. Her best bowling figure in a match was 3/5.
