It was a special moment for the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise after their women's team became the first-ever side to win the Women's Premier League (WPL) after beating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final on Sunday, March 26. It was an ecstatic moment for Harmanpreet Kaur and her squad, with the national team skipper winning her first-ever trophy as the captain of a team.

After the match, the squad were surprised by the men's team players at the team hotel, after they finished their celebrations at the Brabourne Stadium, where the final was held. In a video shared by MI's social media team, players of the men's team can be seen arriving at the venue to join in the celebrations with the women's team and interact with them as well. Even the franchise's chairwoman Nita Ambani was present at the venue to share in the joy of her players.

The men's team's players fraternised with the championship-winning players, after spending the whole evening watching their sister side overcome a tough Delhi Capitals (DC) charge to secure the trophy.

The game was won courtesy of Nat Sciver-Brunt's match-winning knock as she remained unbeaten on 60 runs off 55 balls with the help of seven fours to help MI chase down a target of 132 runs with three balls to spare. Harmanpreet herself chipped in with a handy knock of 37 runs off 39 balls with the help of five fours.Β
