UP Warriorz (UPW) made a surprising call against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their second Women Premier League (WPL) 2023 clash at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on March 7. Healy dropped the hero of Warriorz' thrilling win, Grace Harris, to include South Africa pacer Shabnim Ismail in the playing eleven. Harris had scored an unbeaten 59 off 26 deliveries against Gujarat Giants to help her side win by three wickets off the penultimate delivery.

“We have made a large call, Grace Harris sits out and Ismail comes in. We have made an impact call and hopefully Ismail does that tonight. We have some talented local Indian players and that is a benefit. The belief within the group is there and it will be tested tonight against a good Delhi side,” Healy said after winning the toss and opting to field first.

In the previous game, Warriorz missed having an express pacer in the side. Left-arm pacer Anjali Sarvani was expensive as she conceded 43 runs from her quota of four overs. On the other hand, Tahlia McGrath bowled two overs and conceded 18 runs.

Ismail is fourth on the list of leading wicket takers in women's T20Is. She has 123 wickets from 113 matches at an average of 18.62 including two fifers. Her economy rate is an impressive 5.77 runs per over.

Meg Lanning did not make any changes to the lineup after a dominating win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

“I don't really care what we would do first. The wicket looks really good and will be the same throughout. We are going with the same team. Hopefully more of the same, but it is a new day and we have to start well. It is going to be a good challenge for us,” Lanning said.

Delhi Capitals: Meg Lanning(c), Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, Jess Jonassen, Taniya Bhatia(w), Arundhati Reddy, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, Tara Norris

UP Warriorz: Alyssa Healy(w/c), Shweta Sehrawat, Kiran Navgire, Tahlia McGrath, Deepti Sharma, Simran Shaikh, Devika Vaidya, Sophie Ecclestone, Shabnim Ismail, Anjali Sarvani, Rajeshwari Gayakwad
