With just few hours left for the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 opener between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Giants (GG) on Saturday (March 4), India's star cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol had an opportunity to jam with popular singer AP Dhillon. Dhillon will setting the stage on fire in the opening ceremony of the WPL 2023 with his stunning performance at the DY Patil Stadium along with other Bollywood stars.
Jemimah and Harleen sang a couple of Punjabi tracks with the singer while the former was also seen playing guitar in the video. Dhillon was impressed with two young Indian star women cricketers, and said “you are making me nervous before the performance.”
Dhillon will be performing along with Shankar Mahadevan, Kiara Advani an Kriti Sanon in the opening ceremony which will start at 6:25 pm IST.
Here's the video…
Meanwhile, Rodrigues was roped in by Delhi Capitals at the WPL auction held in February for a whopping Rs 2.2 crore. She has also been named the vice-captain of the Delhi Capitals franchise. Rodrigues is a fine T20 batter. After getting dropped from the ODI World Cup squad in 2022, she worked hard on her game and piled runs in domestic cricket. Since then she has played many good knocks for India. Rodrigues was in fine touch even in the semi-final match vs Australia at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 recently but one bad shot led to her fall and India eventually lost the match. She has featured in 80 T20Is so far in which she has scored 1704 runs at an average of 29.89 and strike rate of 114.20.
Meanwhile, in another video which is doing rounds on Internet, Kiara, Kriti and Dhillon can be seen rehearsing their performance with a bunch of background artists on the stage. Also, renowned music composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan will sing the WPL anthem at the opening ceremony to add to the excitement.
