Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag believes that his team are in good form heading into their all-important clash against Premier League leaders Arsenal. The Red Devils are currently in fourth place in the league, nine points behind Arsenal. The side go into the match as the only team to have beaten Arsenal in the entire season.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ten Hag is of the opinion that the match will be a close one but having already defeated them once, the onus will be on United to secure the victory. "It will be close, it is about detail and being good in the execution of the game plan. We are in good form and we have a good chance. We want to be the best. We have made no secret of that, so we will work and we know we have a lot to do and there is a lot of room for improvement,” said Ten Hag.
The Dutchman also thinks that Mikel Arteta is an incredible manager, adding that he is overseeing really big performances at Arsenal. "In the Premier League, there are incredible managers at the moment. He is one of them and for what he is doing now, he is the best. He is overseeing really big performances, huge things managing his team.
"They are so consistent, the most consistent in the league and playing incredible football. They are fantastic, but we want to beat them and we are looking forward to it. We did it already once and we want to do it a second time and we know how to do it,” Ten Hag said.
Arsenal are currently 12 matches unbeaten in the ongoing season, having last lost to United in September 2022. Across all competitions, they have lost just three games, proving how good they have actually been. Ten Hag reiterated the same, saying that Arsenal play really good football and the players work for the team and each other.
"They play good football and they know they have to work for the team, they are team players and use their abilities to make their team better so the individual skills are in the interests of the team. There is only one Messi, we saw that at the World Cup. The rest have to work and be part of a team,” he opined.
