The FIFA World Cup 2022 is underway in Qatar, and the biggest footballing nations are fighting to become champions of the game for the next four years. With the teams reaching the qualification round getting clearer as the days go by, there are some things that matter to the fans more than their FIFA rankings.

Some squads are judged on the basis of their overall value to rate the teams. Here, we take a look at five countries with the most valuable squads in the ongoing tournament.

5. Portugal — Rs 9,751 Crore
Led by the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal are the fifth most expensive team in the world. The Portuguese captain is surrounded by some of the best players in the game, including the likes of Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, AC Milan's Rafael Leao, and three players from Manchester City in Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias. 2010 world champions Spain are fourth on the list keeping in mind that the La Roja have some of the best young talents in the world. Starting with Barcelona starlets Pedri and Gavi, both of whom command a massive release clause of 1 Billion Euros. They also have expensive midfielders like Rodri and Dani Olmo, while striker Alvaro Morata has earned his teams over 100 million in transfer fees, having played for bigwigs like Real Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea.

3. France — Rs 11,358 Crore
defending champions France take the third spot on this list of most valuable teams courtesy of their golden boy Kylian Mbappe. He is currently the highest-paid footballer in the world, also making him the most valuable player on the Les Blues roster. Besides Mbappe, they also have stars like Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni, all of whom play for the three major teams of the tournaments — Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

2. Brazil — Rs 12,290 Crore
Brazil, who have won the coveted title five times — more than any other country — have the second-most valuable squad in the FIFA World Cup 2022, with players valuing Rs 12,290 crores. These players include world-class attacking talents like Neymar, Vinicius Junior and Richarlison, the Selecao would be looking to make the most of the talent at their disposal and bring their 20-year-long drought to an end in Qatar.

England faced defeat at the hands of Croatia in the semifinals in Russia in 2018. They enter the FIFA World Cup in Qatar with a star-studded squad. Led by Harry Kane, the Three Lions have some of the most exciting youngsters on their roster such as Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Jack Grealish, Declan Rice, and Marcus Rashford who are some of their most valuable players not only their squad but the whole tournament.
