Lionel Messi and Inter Miami created history when they won their maiden MLS Cup in 2025. Inter Miami won 3-1 in December to secure their first MLS title, where Lionel Messi produced an assist. The latest reports suggest that Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates will pay a visit to the White House to continue the tradition of recent years.

Lionel Messi to meet USA President Donald Trump

According to The Athletic, Messi and other Inter Miami players will meet the US President Donald Trump.  The tradition suggests that MLS Cup winners visit the White House.

Before Lionel Messi, his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo also paid a visit to White House in November last year. The former Barcelona player, received an invite to receive a Presidential Medal of Freedom from then-President Joe Biden in January 2025, but sadly could not make it.

On March 5 2025, Inter Miami will visit the White House, attending a ceremony in their honour.

Next Challenge for Inter Miami in MLS

After two days of the visit, Inter Miami will face the D.C. United in a league game in Washington. Inter Miami lost their season opener 3-0 against LAFC.

Last season, Lionel Mess was in beast form as he scored 35 goals and 24 assists in just 33 games in the MLS. In the Concacaf Champions Cup, Messi played seven games where he managed to score five goals and one assist.
