Al-Ahli defender Merih Demiral has aimed a shot at Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr after their 3-2 win against the Saudi Pro League leaders. Jorge Jesus' side picked up their first league defeat of the season at the king Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah on Friday, January 2.
Forgetful game for Cristiano Ronaldo
Former Brentford striker Ivan Toney produced a brace to give Matthias Jaissle's team a 2-0 lead in 20 minutes. Defender Abdulelah Al-Amiri scored twice in the 31st and 44th minute respectively, bringing back parity to the match.
Merih Demiral scored in the 55th minute to give Al-Ahli the lead again, and they managed to maintain it until the last minute. Cristiano Ronaldo had a bad game as he missed a great chance to score.
Merih Demiral reacts on social media
After the game, Merih Demiral took to social media to celebrate Al-Nassr's win over Al-Nassr. He shared a picture in which he was seen and the headlines read:
"Al-Nassr never played with Al-Ahli this season."
Signs of worry for Al-Nassr?
Al-Nassr have now bottled points in their last two league games after starting the season with ten wins. They stay at the top of the table with 31 points but Al-Hilal are now just two points behind a game in hand.
Al-Ahli, on the other hand, are fourth in the table, trailing leaders Al-Nassr by six points. Cristiano Ronaldo has been an exceptional player in the Saudi Pro League by some distance with ten goals in just nine games.
