Antony completes €25M transfer to Real Betis after underwhelming Manchester United spell.

Winger reunites with Betis following successful loan stint.

After a journey full of ups and downs at Manchester United, Antony has finally found a destination where he can express himself. On Monday, Manchester United confirmed that the Brazilian winger has completed a permanent move to Real Betis, ending a forgetful chapter at Old Trafford. The deal, reported to be worth 25 million euros  and including a 50 percent sell-on clause, gives Antony a fresh spell in Spain with a side where he previously thrived on loan.

Once considered as one of United's marquee signings, Antony's Old Trafford story never sparked. Despite arriving for a reported 82 million pounds (95 million) in 2022, the Brazilian struggled to create an impact, amassing just 12 goals and giving five assists in 96 matches. His final stretch at the club was a low point-omitted from Ruben Amorim's US pre-season tour and training away from the main roster along with sidelined players like Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.

But Antony's loan spell at Real Betis in the latter half of the 2024-25 season was an exact opposite. Under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini, he found his rhythm back, scoring nine goals and giving five assists in 26 games, guiding the side to reach the Europa Conference League final.

More business for Manchester United

Antony joins a wave of departures from Manchester United this summer, after Rasmus Hojlund, who secured a move to Napoli, while Jadon Sancho is reportedly on his way out. Alejandro Garnacho has already sealed a permanent move to Chelsea. United have also revamped their attacking options with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, giving Ruben Amorim fresh firepower to replace the outgoing forwards.

Now, permanently joining Real Betis, Antony has the chance to re build on that promising short spell. The Spanish side, competing in both La Liga and the Europa League this season.
