Arsenal moved into the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League with a clinical 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners came into the second leg after salvaging a draw at the BayArena last week. It was Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice's goals that helped Arsenal cruise past their German opponents.
Arsenal's brilliant performance
It was a sensational first-half performance from the hosts, as they didn't concede any goal and also took a 1-0 lead thanks to Eze's prolific strike. Things only got better for the North-London side in the second half.
Declan Rice's screamer vs Bayer Leverkusen
Declan Rice stepped up to the occasion once again and scored an absolute screamer to make it 2-0 on the night, this goal put Arsenal into a comfortable lead and now it was up to their defenders to put in a solid performance and not concede a goal from the other end.
Mikel Arteta and Co's backline has been superb throughout the season so far and they ensured to take a clean sheet in this encounter. Leverkusen failed to score a goal and eventually got eliminated following a disappointing performance.
Next challenge for Arsenal
With this win Arsenal have moved into the quarterfinals of the Champions League where they will be facing Sporting CP, who made an incredible comeback against Bodo Glimt and slotted 5 goals past them in the second leg to qualify for the last eight.
