Arsene Wenger has said that Arsenal are currently the best team in the world right now. The Gunners are leading both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League tables, and thus considered the favorites to win both titles this season.
Wenger led the north London side to three Premier League titles, with the last coming in the 2003-04 season. Since then, they failed to win even a single major title in over two decades.
In a recent interview with CNN in Doha, the former Arsenal boss was questioned about his verdict on the club. The FIFA Head of Global Football Development said:
"They don't need me, but I'm a big supporter."
The French coach was asked to talk about the Gunners' title hopes. Without having a single doubt, Arsene Wenger billed Mikel Arteta's side as the 'best club'. He said:
"Of course. They are the best team at the moment."
Arsenal forward lavishes praise on Chelsea's teenage sensation
Gabriel Martinelli has appreciated Chelsea star Estevao Willian for his personality and performance this season. However, the Brazilian forward also wishes that Estevao doesn't perform at his level best during Arsenal's clash against Chelsea on Sunday, November 30.
Martinelly said that the 18-year old is loved by everyone at the Brazilian national team. Arsenal winger told the evening standard:
"Estevao is a nice boy, his family as well, everyone's so humble. They deserve everything that they are doing here. The boy is so good as well, everyone in the national team loves him as well. He deserves everything that he's doing - and I just hope he's not on his day on Sunday!"
Estevao has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Enzo Maresca's team this season, amassing five goals and giving one assist, with an important strike against Barcelona last week, the 18-year-old became only the third teenager to score goals in his first three starts in the UEFA Champions League, after Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
