Chelsea's interest in Mateus Mane
According to TeamTALK, Chelsea have enquired about signing Mane. The Blues have signed many young players in recent years and could add the Wolves attacker to the list. However, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the 18-year-old.
Following his goal against West Ham, Wolves head coach Rob Edwards said:
“He’s 18, but he’s almost like a little leader on the pitch. I think that’s contagious. I believe he influences others – with his energy, his enthusiasm. He’s truly a very bright talent, someone we should really admire. At the same time, we want to make sure we look after him.”
As per TeamTALK, Mane is happy to continue at Wolves, whose academy he joined in 2024 from Rochdale. His contract with the Premier League's bottom-placed team will end in 2029.
Liam Rosenior reacts on making his own decisions at Chelsea
The Blues have named Liam Rosenior as their new head coach after Enzo Maresca's exit on New Year's Day. He will take charge of his first match as the Chelsea head coach at Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday.
In his pre-match press conference, Rosenior talked about making his own sporting decisions at the club, saying (h/t The Guardian):
“I don’t think it’s possible to ever be in this job and not be your own man. People will see through you straight away. I will make the decisions at this football club. That’s why I’ve been brought in. I understand. I know what’s being said in the press.
“But there’s no way you can be successful as a manager if you don’t make the decisions for yourself. The great thing for me is I’ve experienced working in this setup. The guys have been nothing but supportive for me at Strasbourg. We’ve had huge success at that club. I intend to work exactly the same way here.”
When questioned about Chelsea signing young players, Rosenior referenced Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United. He said that the former Scotsman was not scared to test young players in the team but still managed to win titles.
