John Terry backs Chelsea to push Arsenal in the title race while ruling out Liverpool.

Gary Neville disagrees, insisting Chelsea will hover around the top-four battle.

Premier League legend John Terry thinks that Chelsea can give a tough fight to Arsenal for the league title this season. He has ruled Liverpool out of the contention and believes the game next week will be a big clash for both teams.

Big claim from John Terry

In a TikTok clip, Terry stated only his former team can make it difficult for Arsenal in the Premier League title race. He picked Liverpool as the team that are already out of the race, and has ignored Manchester City and said:

"A big game at the weekend now as Arsenal come to the Bridge, where it's going to be a very big game. I'm not saying it's going to be a title decider but I think it's going to be one of the two teams [who win the league]. For me, Liverpool are 100 per cent out of the title race. Liverpool look they're really struggling at the moment."

Discussing the win against Burnley last weekend, Terry said that Enzo Marersca's team have performed well and said:

"A good away from the boys, really important to pick up the three points, especially after sustaining a little bit of pressure in the first half from Burnley. I said they would try and hit us on the counterattack and they definitely did that in the first half and we had three unbelievable blocks defensively."

Decent start for Chelsea

The Blues are six points behind Arsenal in the Premier League standings, and the two teams clash at Stamford Bridge next.

Contrasting views of Gary Neville

Manchester United icon Gary Neville has said that Chelsea are not in the league race despite their decent start to the season. He thinks that the Blues will fight to stay in the top four and said:

"That will be really interesting for Chelsea next week and a good measure for them. What we’ll see with Chelsea during the season is they’ll win a lot of football matches that we think they should do. They’ll tease us and they’ll get close but then they will drop points and maybe drop down to fifth or sixth and then come up to fourth. That’s where we’ll see them move between sixth and second and third and that where we’ll see Chelsea operate in the season."

The Blues have not defeated Arsenal at home in the Premier League since 2018, when they had won 3-2 with Marcos Alonso producing the winner in the 81st minute.
