Football wizard Cristiano Ronaldo, recently weighed in on his relationship with the legendary Lionel Messi. In an era where debates about the supremacy of one over the other have been unceasing, Ronaldo called upon fans to separate their admiration for him from any potential rivalry towards Messi. Both these sporting giants, he emphasised, have revolutionised football in unparalleled ways.

Reflecting on their on-field interactions, Ronaldo shared, "I don't see things like that, the rivalry is gone." He continued, acknowledging that while their duels were an audience favorite, mutual respect was ever-present. "It was good, spectators liked it. Those who like Cristiano Ronaldo don't have to hate Messi and vice versa. We've done well, we have changed the history of football. We are respected all over the world, that's the most important thing."

Revisiting their time in Spain, the world witnessed a rivalry like no other, as Messi and Ronaldo, representing Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively, consistently set new standards of excellence. This fierce competition not only saw these stalwarts push their own boundaries but continuously raised the bar for the entire sport.

Fast-forwarding to their current chapters, both legends have opted for newer adventures outside Europe. Ronaldo now displays his skills for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, and Messi, after bidding adieu to Europe, is now making waves in Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami.

Ronaldo mused about their current paths, stating, "He's followed his path and I have followed mine, regardless of playing outside of Europe. From what I've seen, he's been doing well and so have I. The legacy lives on, but I don't see the rivalry like that." He also clarified that while they might not be close friends, their professional camaraderie and mutual respect remain unwavering.

The impact both players have had on football is immeasurable. Their combined records, achievements, and influence on their teams underline their positions as two of the most formidable talents the sport has ever witnessed.

Looking ahead, fans eagerly await Ronaldo's appearance against Slovakia in the Euro 2024 qualifier, while Messi is gearing up to lead Argentina against Ecuador for the 2026 World Cup qualifier at the iconic Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
