Real Madrid's legend Cristiano Ronaldo has provided his blunt response when asked if anybody can cross his and Lionel Messi's record in the future. Ronaldo and Messi have taken the footballing world by surprise since bursting onto the scene almost two decades ago. 

What did Cristiano Ronaldo say on this matter?

Currently, at Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo feels it would be very tough for anyone to break his and Lionel Messi's numbers in the future. 

In the 1,259 games that the Portuguese star has featured in, he has scored 920 goals and has 256 assists across competitions for both club and country. On the other hand, Lionel Messi has played 1,083 games so far and has 850 goals to his alongside 379 assists. 

While speaking to journalist Edu Aguirre, Ronaldo admitted that their numbers are something which can never be repeated again. 

I hope football is very good, but I see it as something difficult, said Ronaldo.

For the last two decades, Ronaldo and Messi have divided the world into two camps and the footballing community has never seen such fierce rivalry. Ronaldo even mentioned that he shared a good relationship with Messi. 

I have never had a bad relationship with Messi, said Ronaldo.

The ex-Manchester United player made his way to the Saudi Arab after securing a move to Al-Nassr in December 2022. So far in his time in the Middle East, Ronaldo has scored 78 goals and has 18 assists from the 87 games that he has featured in across competitions. 

Lionel Messi left Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2023 as a free agent. He was then signed by Inter Miami where he has scored 34 goals and 18 assists from the 39 games he has played across competitions. 

When will Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's contracts come to an end?

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are in the final year of their contracts. Ronaldo's contract will expire in the summer and Messi's contract will end at the end of the year. 

Marca has reported that Ronaldo might sign a blockbuster one-year deal with Al-Nassr. He will earn €183m for an extra season and also get a 5% stake in the club. But, any official confirmation hasn't been made. 

According to Marca, Inter Miami are also in talks with Lionel Messi's camp to sign him for a new deal. He has been a force to reckon with during his time at Chase Stadium.
