Cristiano Ronaldo on Rasmus Hojlund's celebration

Cristiano Ronaldo has played down any suggestion of controversy after Rasmus Hojlund performed his iconic 'Siu' celebration during Denmark's 1-0 victory over Portugal in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League.

Speaking before the second leg in Lisbon, Ronaldo said that he was not offended by Manchester United striker's gesture. Hojlund scored in the 78th minute during the 1-0 victory over Portugal and said I didn't want to disrespect as Ronaldo is my 'idol'. The celebration was a tribute to the former United legend.

While talking to the reporters, Ronaldo said,

For me, it is not a problem. This is not because he don't have respect for me. I'm smart enough to understand that not only him, but around the world, other sportspeople do it, my celebration.

For me, it's an honour. But I hope that tomorrow you can see my celebration, not [that] I still see his celebration, Ronaldo added.

After thrashing Denmark 5-2 (5-3 aggregate) in the second leg, Portugal will now take on Germany on 5th July in the semi-final of the UEFA Nations League.
