Cristiano Ronaldo's trophy drought continues as Al-Ahli defeats Al-Nassr

After an amazing 2-2 draw on Saturday, where Cristiano Ronaldo produced his 100th goal for the losing side, Al Ahli defeated Al Nassr 5-3 on penalties to secure win the Saudi Super Cup in Hong Kong.

After Ali Majrashi's handball penalty, Portugal striker, reached the milestone by opening the score from the penalty spot in the 40th minute.

In the first half, Al Ahli's Frank Kessie, smashed the ball after receiving a well-placed pass from new signing Enzo Millot, finishing low past Al-Nassr keeper Bento.

In the second half, both of the teams gave their best to seal the win, Ronaldo put Edouard Mendy to the test with a strong finish before Firas Al-Buraikan hit the crossbar.

In the 82nd minute of the match, Marcelo Brozovic took full advantage of a poor clearance and fired home from within the box to give Al Nassr the lead again.

After Bento mishandled the ball, Roger Ibanez headed in Riyad Mahrez's corner to give Al-Ahli another equalizer in the 89th minute.

The Jeddah-based side clinched their Saudi Super Cup when Al Ahli scored all five of the penalties in the shootout and Al Nassr missed one despite Ronaldo converting his spot kick.

After Al Nassr lost to Al Ahli on penalties in the Saudi Super Cup final, Cristiano Ronaldo looked frustrated. Ronaldo lost for the third consecutive time as Al Nassr failed to seal the match after leading twice in the game.

Ronaldo has reached three finals during his time at Al Nassr, but he ended up losing each time. He lost against Al Hilal in the 2023-24 King's Cup and the 2024 Saudi Super Cup, while Al Ahli won the 2025 Saudi Super Cup final.

Cristiano Ronaldo's club-level trophy drought has stretched over four years, with his last trophy being a Coppa Italia win with Juventus in May 2021.
