Mohamed Salah is having yet another standout season with Liverpool. The forward has so far netted 25 years in the league and is seen as the likely frontrunner for the Balon d'Or award, should the Reds go on to claim major trophies this season. Arne Slot's men are sitting pretty at the top in the EPL table and have emerged as one of the contenders for the Champions League too.

Former England and Chelsea Defender Ashley Cole Weighs In On Mohamed Salah's Chances to Win Balon d'Or
Salah has been a prolific contributor to Liverpool's continued success in the most part of the last decade and the 2024-25 season could finally turn out to be the season when the Egyptian will conquer the biggest individual trophy in football.
Former English footballer Ashley Cole weighed in on Salah's Balon d'Or chances and labelled him as one of the favorites to claim the award.
"He'll certainly be in the running," he said. "The Ballon d'Or's always very heavily loaded towards what happens in the Champions League and what happens in the final in particular.
According to Cole the Liverpool striker may have already gotten one Balon d'Or award under his sleeve if it weren't for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
"He is in the running - the only reason he's not got one in his career so far is he's been in the Messi and Ronaldo era, and Liverpool haven't reached the latter end of the Champions League in recent years.
"What he's done in the Premier League, he stands on the shoulders with all the giants. There's been a lot of debate this week, your Henrys, your Cantonas, your Agueros, Gerrards - he's standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them and in the conversation."
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's continued brilliance overshadowed the peak of many players. Robert Lewandowski is one of them along with Mohamed Salah. However, as the two maestros finally endured a plummet, Salah counted on his opportunity in 2021-22 but ironically Karim Benzema brought out his best simultaneously.
Muhamed Salah had a standout season in 2021-22 as well, when the team reached the Champions League final. In the summit clash, they squared off against known rivals Real Madrid. Salah came to scoring in the final but Thibaut Courtois managed to block his every shot. Had Liverpool won the UCL that season then Salah would have won the Balon d'Or. Eventually, it was won by Benzema, who scored 50 goals in the season for Madrid, and his goals translated into LA Liga and Champions League trophies as well.
