Football journalist, Alex Candal, who was the first to break the development of Lionel Messi moving to Inter Miami a couple of years ago, has revealed that the 8-time Balon d'Or winner is excited to grace the field of the recently refurbished Camp Nou, the home ground of FC Barcelona. Messi, who spent a total of 21 years in Barcelona, departed from the club as a legend in 2021 for PSG. His stint in the Ligue 1 proved to be tumultuous and ended on a rough note in 2023. Since then, he has been featuring in the Major League Soccer for Inter Miami.

In an interview with DSports on Tuesday, Alex Candal revealed that Lionel Messi desires to play in the Camp Nou at least once before ending his club career.
“I can’t leave football without playing at the new Camp Nou,” were the words associated with Messi by him.
