According to a report in Metro, the midfielder said:

‘We’re going with the mentality to win there. I don’t care what happened last season, I don’t care. We have the level to go there and show again our best shape.’

Last season, Pep Guardiola’s side failed to lift a trophy for the first time in eight years. But Rodri believes that this year will be different. Furthermore, a 3-0 victory against rivals Manchester United in the recent Manchester Derby has lifted their mood somewhat. The Spaniard, who is aware that the Gunners are currently in their best shape following their top signings, said:

‘It’s the beginning of the season, but it will be a good message if we go there and win in their home. So this is our mentality.’

The former La Liga player further, as per the aforementioned source, stated the match against Arsenal is not just a match to win and take the three points, the goal is ‘it’s three points you can potentially take from a Premier League contender.’

The player suffered a serious knee injury last season however, he has stated earlier that the Sky Blues star is feeling better after his return. The reigning Ballon d’Or winner who missed the majority of last season with an ACL injury before he underwent injury, believes he should play sensibly to overcome the potential injury concerns.

However, while the schedule is a bit hectic for club football, Rodri doesn't want to play every game to tackle the risk of getting injured again. City are scheduled to face Arsenal on Sunday, September 21, in the hope of shaking up the league title race.
