Julien Alvarez breaks silence on his future with Atletico Madrid
The Argentina international, speaking to the media following Atlético's 5-2 Champions League victory over Tottenham Hotspur, where he scored twice and earned UEFA Man of the Match honors, responded ambiguously when asked if he would remain at the club next season. The Argentine said:
“I don't know. Maybe yes, maybe no.”
The 26-year-old added:
“I have nothing to say other than I'm happy. On social media a lot of things get talked about, but it’s nothing”.
Alvarez further said:
“We’re very happy competing in all competitions, so everything is going very well”.
The comments come amid persistent links to Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Barcelona, despite Atletico's firm stance that the 26-year-old World Cup winner is not for sale. Earlier, head coach Diego Simeone had stated that he hopes that the player will stay at the club.
