Another amazing game night in UEFA Champions League, as Arsenal managed to secure a late 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.

Tough first half

The game started in a typical Arsenal way, as the Gunners were great in the defense and not giving a single loose moment to Leverkusen. In the first half, Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli almost scored a goal, but he managed to hit the crossbar while goalkeeper David Raya was great with crucial saves.

Bayer Leverkusen's dominance in the second half

The first half finished in a goalless draw, but just 45 seconds into the second half, Leverkusen found their rhythm and intensity back as skipper Robert Andrich gave the hosts the lead with an amazing header from an Alejandro Grimaldo corner.

The second half was majorly dominated by the hosts, as they were clinical with their passes and managed to have 45% of the ball possession. Leverkusen almost scored the winner as Martin Terrier executed a perfect header but it was saved by Arsenal's goalkeeper David Raya.

Kai Havertz's equaliser

In the dying minutes of the game, Arsenal winger Noni Madueke was fouled in the opponent box by Leverkusen's Malik Tillman. The war intervened to check, and a penalty was awarded to Arsenal. Kai Havertz who came off the bench, stepped up to take the penalty and managed to convert it into the bottom left corner to equalise the game against his former side.
