La Liga president Javier Tebas is all praise for Cristiano Ronaldo. The 63-year-old has credited the Portuguese superstar’s recent investment in UD Almería with dramatically elevating the club's digital presence, propelling it to fifth place among Spanish clubs on social media platforms.
Tebas highlighted the development during comments on the league's economic outlook, noting that Ronaldo's 25% stake, acquired in February 2026 through his CR7 Sports Investments vehicle, has significantly boosted sponsor interest and signaled strong long-term ambition for the second-division side.
La Liga president Tebas praises Ronaldo’s investment in Almeria; here is how it will affect club
Tebas said:
Almería are now 5th Spanish club on social media since Cristiano Ronaldo decided to invest into their project”.
The La Liga president added:
“This is very important to get sponsors and improve the project for long term. Cristiano into the Almería project means ambition for the future”.
The investment aligns with Ronaldo's stated goal of contributing to football beyond his playing career, as the 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward seeks to support Almería's growth and potential return to the top flight.
Ronaldo's past influence is well known, including heightened interest in Serie A during his Juventus tenure and the Saudi Pro League's rise after his 2023 arrival. His move to the Saudi League propelled several top European players to transfer to the Middle East.
While on-field results remain crucial for sustained progress, the immediate surge in followers and engagement underscores the former Real Madrid and Manchester United superstar’s enduring commercial power as both a player and investor.
