17-year-old Lamine Yamal on October 26 became the youngest to score a goal in El Clasico as Barcelona registered a 4-0 win in La Liga encounter at Santiago Bernabeu. Barcelona ended Real Madrid's 42-game unbeaten record.
Real Madrid fell short of equalling Barcelona's record of longest unbeaten run of 43 games in La Liga history which was created between 2017 and 2018. Yamal broke Barcelona's Alfonso Navarro's record. Navarro was 17 years and 356 days when he scored a goal in El Clasico. Yamal was aged 17 years and 106 days when he broke the record.
All the goals were scored in the second half of the game. Rober Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 54th minute. Two minutes later, he doubled the lead with a header off Alejando Balde's cross to catch Real Madrid defenders by surprise.
In the 77th minute, Yamal scored on the counterattack. Raphindha in the 84th minute made use of the open spaces and added to Real Madrid’s misery to make it 4-0.
With 10 wins from 11 games, Barcelona remained at the top of the La Liga 2024-25 standings. Real Madrid are placed second with seven wins, three draws and one loss from 11 games.
Yamal’s big statement after win
After the win Yamal said that Barcelona are the best team in the world.
“We believe we are the best team in the world. They said we were beating only normal teams… now we beat Real Madrid 4-0 at their home. We've proven that we can beat anyone,” the Spaniard said after the dominating win.
Ancelotti on big defeat at home
While Carlo Ancelotti admitted that they were outplayed, he said that they need to forget how they played in the last 30 minutes.
"We don't have to throw everything in the trash, we have to forget the last 30 minutes," he said.
“It does not reflect what happened on the field. We couldn't get ahead on the scoreboard and they took advantage. The game, until the first goal, was very even and we had more chances.
"We already lost 4-0 here to Barca and won LaLiga and the Champions League. We won't be far from last season."
Ancelotti also talked about star striker Kylian Mbappe not being able to convert chances. He does not regret the way Real Madrid approached the game.
"It was known that they use the high line and we almost didn't take advantage of it. He had chances and sometimes he was offside," Ancelotti said.
"But we had three or four opportunities where they needed more success. I don't regret our approach. We did have opportunities.
"It's a tough moment, as always when you lose. And even more so when you do it after so many games unbeaten."
