FC Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets has taken the first formal step in his coaching career, joining the technical staff of Barca Atletic, Barcelona’s reserve team, as an assistant coach under head coach Juliano Belletti.
The club confirmed that Busquets began the role on Monday as they welcomed the legendary icon. He will contribute his extensive experience and tactical knowledge while completing the necessary course to obtain his coaching licence.

As per the official announcement by the club:
“The Barça legend is joining Juliano Belletti’s team to bring his experience and football knowledge to the Barça team while he completes his coaching course.”
The appointment marks Busquets’ return to the club three years after he left the first team. The midfielder from Badia del Valles spent 15 seasons at Barcelona, making 722 appearances, which is the third-highest total in the club’s history.
Busquets went on to win 32 major trophies, including nine La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns. After departing in 2023, he played two and a half seasons with Inter Miami alongside Lionel Messi before announcing his retirement from professional football.
A product of La Masia, Busquets was promoted to the first team by Pep Guardiola and became one of the defining midfielders of Barcelona’s modern era. His move to the reserve side is widely seen as a natural progression as he transitions into coaching, following a pathway previously taken by figures such as Guardiola and Luis Enrique.
