Story Highlights:

Amad Diallo has been sidelined with a serious ankle ligament injury that he sustained during training with Manchester United.

Amad has been one of Manchester United’s star performers during the season as he has registered six goals in the Premier League.

Amad will not play the upcoming United's clash against Tottenham Hotspurs.

Amad Diallo has been sidelined with a serious ankle ligament injury that he sustained during training with Manchester United ahead of their clash against Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday, February 16. Sources close to the situation confirmed to ESPN that the 22-year-old winger could potentially miss the remainder of the Premier League 2024-25 season.

Amad Diallo's ankle ligament injury

Amad has been one of Manchester United’s star performers during the season as he has registered six goals in the Premier League. He will not be a part of Ruben Amorim's squad for their upcoming match against Tottenham Hotspur. The Ivorian international will undergo a scan to determine the severity of his injury.

While some reports have indicated that the youngster will be out for the rest of the campaign, sources indicate it’s still too early to definitively rule him out for the entire season.

At this point, the best-case scenario for him will be that he will remain absent for several weeks, which is further a blow to United’s hopes of securing European football next season through either the FA Cup or Europa League.

Amad Diallo's message to his fans after the injury

Taking to social media, Amad expressed his frustration and determination:

Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.

Amad has been among few players who have shown potential in United's challenging season, especially after Ruben Amorim took over as head coach in November replacing Erik ten Hag. Diallo's consistent performances earned him a regular starting spot and a five-year contract in January. However, with his injury ruling him out for now, the team will need to rely on other forwards to step up.

With Amad out of action, the attacking options for United are now limited. Forward Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee will be tasked with carrying the team’s offensive responsibilities. Unfortunately, both players have struggled for form, which could further hinder United’s chances in cup competitions and league matches.

Additionally, with Marcus Rashford and Antony having left the club on loan in January, United’s attacking depth has been significantly reduced. Amorim will have to find alternative ways to boost the team’s chances in their push for better league standings and cup glory.
