Novak Djokovic surprised the tennis fans all over the world at the Australian Open semifinal, and Manchester United star player Bryan Mbeumo was one of them.
Novak Djokovic's smashing reply to all the haters
The Serbian tennis icon defeated Jannik Sinner in a 5-set thriller to set up a final game against Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday, February 1. In a game that went over four hours, Djokovic won 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and expressed his gratitude towards his doubters after the game. He said:
“I never stopped believing in myself. There's a lot of people that doubt me. A lot of experts wanted to retire me or have retired me many times the last couple of years. I want to thank them all, because they gave me strength. They gave me motivation to prove them wrong, which I have tonight. For me, it's not a surprise, to be honest."
Manchester United star expresses shock over Djokovic's win
Manchester United's star forward, Bryan Mbeumo, was one of the fans who could not get over the 38-year-old's masterclass. He took to his Instagram story to express his feelings with 'mindblown' emojis and posted:
The Australian Open final will take place on Sunday, February 1, just 5.5 hours before Manchester United lock horns with Fulham. Mbeumo should be able to watch the full game before they make it to the fielf for pre-match warm-up, but if the game lasts around the same time as Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev, the Cameroonian is likely to miss the tail end of the final.
Michael Carrick sends warning to Manchester United players
Michael Carrick has issued a warning to his Manchester United players ahead of their Premier League game against Fulham. He wants them to stay grounded after the surprising wins over Manchester City and Arsenal, saying that they should not take the Cottagers lightly and said:
"I think the boys are in a good place going into the game. It's a tough game, tough challenge, I think Marco has got Fulham into a really good team. All of a sudden it is a different game, it's Fulham, just because we are at home, taking anything for granted is bang out of order."
When questioned if they will be signing players this window, he added:
"Never say never because a lot can happen and situations can be thrown up. Sometimes it is in our control, sometimes not. I am pretty calm and we have shown [against City and Arsenal] what we are capable of as a team."
Currently, Manchester United are fourth in the Premier League table with 38 points in hand from 23 games.
