Barcelona are desperately looking for a striker, with Lewandowski playing his last season and Ferran Torres being inconsistent with his finishing. The Catalan club are aiming to sign Atletico Madrid's star, Julian Alvarez in the coming summer.
Mateu Alemany reacts on Julian Alvarez's transfer rumors
Atletico Madrid's director of football, Mateu Alemany, has sent a strong message to his former club, saying that there is no possibility of Alvarez leaving for Barcelona at the end of the season.
Alemany said that the Argentine striker is very happy at Atletico Madrid, and the club wants to keep him for a longer duration.
"Like what happened with Antoine. He has a contract with us and he’s going to stay. Julián clearly stated that he’s very happy at Atlético, and yet everything he says is interpreted in a certain way," Alemany told Movisar.
Alemany added saying, the Argentine player still has four more years left on his contract, and wants him to stay as long as possible.
"He has four more years on his contract, and we hope he stays much longer, and even that it gets extended. I don’t see any news regarding Julián," added Alemany.
Julian Alvarez's mixed bag season
Julian Alvarez is going mixed bag in the ongoing season, as he scored only eight goals and three assists in 27 LaLiga games. On the other hand, he is having a good UCL campaign, with seven goals and four assists in 10 games.
