Siraj blasts Alonso for subbing Vinicius in Supercopa defeat to Barca
Vinicius was called off in the 82nd minute of the game and was replaced by young Argentine winger Franco Mastantuono. This did not sit well with Siraj, the ICC World T20 2024 winner. The Indian cricketer took over his social media account to show off his disagreement. He wrote on his Instagram:
“You dont snub game-changers like Vinicius Jr.”
The cricketer further wrote:
“No Vini, No threat. Horrible change by Xabi.”
Madrid were without Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger, while Kylian Mbappe only featured as a late substitute, as he has been recovering from a knee injury. The aftermath of the disappointing result turned into Alonso’s departure.
The former midfielder, as per the club’s statement, left Real Madrid following a mutual agreement. The Spaniard was sacked at the Bernabeu, just under eight months after being appointed. Alonso has been immediately replaced by reserve team coach and former teammate Alvaro Arbeloa. However, the length of his contract is not described as of this writing.
