Neymar's absence from Brazil national team

Neymar has not represented Brazil since suffering an ACL and a meniscus injury in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October 2023. The 33-year-old has yet to play under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, who took over the duties in June after a far-from-ideal qualification process for the World Cup.

Neymar close to Santos renewal

Brazilian star Neymar is close to reaching an agreement that will make him stay at the club for six more months. The 33-year-old is set to reach the end of his contract with Santos this month after he signed a short-term contract with the club earlier this year.

According to ESPN, Neymar's representatives have held talks with Santos and their president Marcelo Teixeira. A broad agreement has been reached, with the forward set to sign a six-month deal until the FIFA World Cup next summer.

Neymar had to fight injuries in his time at Santos and played only 30 matches for the side throughout this year. He contributed 12 goals and six assists, with five goals in the last four games of the season to avoid relegation. He has prioritized a stay in Santos
