Paul Scholes criticised Michael Carrick after Manchester United’s loss to Newcastle United.

Patrice Evra defended Carrick, questioning the lack of support despite the interim boss guiding United to third place with 51 points.

Michael Carrick has been a life changer for Manchester United, as he was unbeaten in the first 11 games since taking over as an interim boss. After a shocking 2-1 loss against Newcastle United, led to criticism from club icon Paul Scholes.

Paul Scholes indirectly expressed his opinion of not wanting Carrick to have the permanent coaching job at Manchester United.

"Michael has definitely got something special about him, [because] United have been crap last four games... night"

However, another club icon Patrice Evra seemed to take a cheeky dig at Paul Scholes for his criticism towards Carrick. Evra asked the reason for lack of support for the interim manager, when the club is doing really well.

The former United player said that he is not surprised to see such a statement from the club icon after his retirement, claiming Scholes was one of the nicest players during their playing careers.

"I hope Paul Scholes' Instagram story is fake, I hope he was hacked. To be honest, I'm not surprised at that from Scholesy. He was the quietest player I've ever played with in my entire career. Now, in the media, he drops bombshells. I really don't understand the lack of support behind Michael Carrick; he's one of us and he's doing very well," said Evra to Stake.

Under the coaching of Michael Carrick, the Red Devils moved to the third place in the league standings with 51 points in 29 matches.
