Xabi Alonso answered when questioned regarding the boos targeted at Vinicius Junior during Real Madrid's LaLiga clash against Sevilla on Saturday.
Booing against Vinicius Junior
Vinicius started the game against Sevilla, but he was booed early in the game by the Santiago Bernabeu crowd. And as he left the field after being substituted in the 83rd minute for Gonzalo Garcia he got the same treatment, as Real Madrid claimed a 2-0 win at home.
Interacting with reporters following the game, Alonso said that the fans have the right to express their feelings. He added that he didn't discuss the problem with the team after the game and chose to focus on the rest and recovery.
“The fans are sovereign and free to express their opinion. It was a difficult match because of how we were doing. There are things we can improve, but I appreciate the team's situation with the injuries we have. Now we're going to use the time to rest and start the year stronger. I said goodbye to everyone, we said goodbye and we didn't talk about the issue,” he said.
Vinicius' dip in form
