Xabi Alonso and Arne Slot, both the managers of Real Madrid and Liverpool, respectively, are on the verge of getting fired, according to reports. Alonso amd Slot are both facing scrutiny at their clubs following their struggling clubs.
For Alonso, his future with the Spanish giants can end prematurely if Real Madrid loses to Manchester City at their upcoming fixture in the UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, Alonso was asked if he considers the Liverpool job in the future, and here is what the former midfielder of the club has said.
Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso hints Liverpool job amid dismissal reports
When asked if he would consider being the manager of Liverpool, Alonso said:
“There’s a bond with Liverpool. I’m in the place where I want to be [Real Madrid], you never know what will happen in the future”.
On the other hand, Slot is also feeling the heat due to the poor run, and it remains to be seen if Alonso would take over the job at Anfield, since he has not ruled out the possibility.
This is not the first time that Alonso has been rumored to manage his former club. Alonso, who bid farewell to the Reds in 2009, was in the headlines for the same reports when Jurgen Klopp stepped down in 2024. However, the Los Blancos boss decided to instead continue with Bayer Leverkusen for another stunning season.
