Gerrard says Salah must step back, apologise privately, and settle the issue with Slot for the team’s good.

Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard thinks Virgil van Dijk needs to intervene and resolve the problem between Mohamed Salah, the club and Arne Slot. The Englishman said that the fans should be suffering because of the feud.

Steven Gerrard gives advice to Mohamed Salah

Appearing on TNT Sports, Gerrard said he respects Salah's disappointment at not getting a place, but the Liverpool player made the mistake of throwing people under the bus. He added that the star winger needs to step back and sort things out with the coach and said:

"He’s obviously really upset he’s not playing, which I respect. He won’t sit out of the team, which I respect. The couple of lines about throwing people under the bus [is] wrong. He needs to reverse a little bit away from that. He needs to deal with that with the manager. This needs Virgil van Dijk to go, 'How are we sorting this out for the benefit of not the club, or the team, but the fans?'"

Gerrard went on to say that Salah is going through a tough time that most players have faced in their careers. He understands the comments, but compared it to his situation and that Liverpool during their time at Anfield and said:

"I’ve seen this and I’ve lived it. I lived it with [Luis] Suarez when he fell out with Brendan [Rodgers]. I’ve seen it all. I’ve been there myself from a personal point of view. I did the Salah statement in 30 seconds against [Man] United when I got sent off. So no-one’s perfect. We’ve all had head losses as players. We’ve all done emotional things."

Salah was dropped from the UEFA Champions League squad for their 1-0 win against Inter Milan this week after his explosive comments about Liverpool and Arne Slot.

Mohamed Salah will regret his comments regarding Liverpool, believes Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard believes Mohamed Salah will not feel good with his comments about Liverpool and Arne Slot. He said that the Egyptian player should resolve things with the club and said:

"And I know in time when this all calms Mo will go, ‘I shouldn’t have said that, I maybe shouldn’t have said that, I was a bit emotional, I was a bit hasty.’ But at the end of the day, Liverpool football club needs Mo Salah, back playing well, back scoring goals, because he is the best player, the best scorer and he will help them get out of this. If this goes on this is bigger than what we all know and what we see."

Salah will be travelling to join the national team next week following the Premier League game against Brighton on Saturday.
