A big disappointment coming from the sports world, as the 2026 edition of Finalissima which was supposed to take place between Euro 2024 winners Spain and World Champions Argentina on March 27 in Qatar, has been cancelled because of the ongoing war in the Middle East region.

Earlier today, The UEFA issued a statement confirming the news, where it has been said that because of the ongoing circumstance in the middle east region have denied Argentina and Spain to compete for the prize in Qatar.
"It is a source of great disappointment to UEFA and the organisers that circumstances and timing have denied the teams the chance to compete for this prestigious prize in Qatar," the statement read.

The one-game tournament pits the latest European Championship winners against the Copa America winners. In that way, this year's edition was supposed to have Argentina and Spain as competitors for the prize.
The inaugural edition of the tournament took place in the year of 2022, with Argentina winning the game by defeating Italy in 2022 at Wembley in London.
Fans were excited about this year's edition, as this was going to be the first clash between Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal. The Argentine is considered to be the greatest of all time, meanwhile the Spanish teenage sensation is being considered as his true successor.
