Following this, the match was halted, and now, CAF ruled this as a forfeiture under tournament regulations, declaring the match a 3-0 win for Morocco and crowning them champions instead.

Following the decision, the fans were seen celebrating wildly in the streets and from cars, honking horns, waving flags, playing loud music, and more, as per the videos circulated online.
Meanwhile, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has condemned CAF's decision as unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable, vowing to file an appeal as soon as possible with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne to challenge the stripping of their AFCON 2025 title.
